OSMI recently installed a large QDC system manufactured by Atlas Technologies that facilitates quick, safe die exchange on our 1200 ton press with dies up to 108" X 144" and weighing as much as 70,000 pounds.
The system consists of a 2-station staging cart that accommodates the die coming out of the press and the die going in for the next job. This cart resides in a crane-served bay with 35-ton crane capability for die exchange and moves to and from this staging area to the press.
A second transfer cart located directly behind the press, moves the dies to and from the press and to and from the transfer cart.
