In March, 1981, Morgal Machine Tool Company purchased a 35,000 square foot facility and 3 large mechanical power presses from International Harvester Company with proceeds from the issuance of an Industrial Development Bond. Ohio Stamping & Machine, Inc. (OSMI) was incorporated in Ohio and became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Morgal. In 1986, the Company was merged with Morgal, an S-Corporation and became an operating division, a position OSMI maintained until the end of 2001. On January 01, 2002 OSMI separated from Morgal and established its own entity, Ohio Stamping & Machine LLC.
OSMI began its operations as a stamping and screw machine shop as an outgrowth of Morgal's years of experience. The Company spent the early years performing smaller stamping jobs and as a subcontractor to Morgal. During the mid-1980's, the Company began to add presses with the capability of processing large blanks and stampings. By 1989, the Company significantly ramped up its capabilities, becoming a predominately steel-blanking and wide-stamping operation.
The entire decade of the 1990's was a period of explosive growth for OSMI with more than a doubling of production space and factory support areas as well as production capacity. Along with this, significant changes were made to our logistics infrastructure to support the changes in production capacity.
So, today OSMI almost fully occupies 13.5 acres, has over 140,000 sq. feet of factory and office space and 10 automatic press lines with acknowledged capabilities for wide stampings and compound blanks that has earned the Company a reputation for exemplary service.
